Welcome to Village Green - South Unionville in Markham Ontario
This well-located community in Markham Ontario is situated between Hwy 7 and 407, running from Kennedy Rd. to McCowan Rd. It lies just east of Markham's new downtown area, Markham Centre and is close to the Unionville GO Station and the YMCA to the west.
The newer neighbourhoods in the southern end of South Unionville, built between 2000 - 2003, consist mostly of single detached, semi-detached, and townhomes, and have been designed to blend in seamlessly with the well established residential neighbourhood to the north. These two neighbourhoods are joined primarily by South Unionville Avenue, an east-west artery which serves as the communities primary road from Kennedy to McCowan Ave. Most of the residences along South Unionville Ave. are townhomes.
Even though Village Green - South Unionville has been criticized for lack of developed parkland, the area does have a fair amount of undeveloped forests and small, untouched groves. There is a large park that surrounds South Unionville Pond, at the heart of this community, where residents can walk a circular pathway around the small lake with a bridge and benches along the way.
This community has the added benefit of being in close proximity to golf courses, public transit, the historic village of Unionville, and the Rouge Park. It is a very convenient place to live.
